先日、柳沢林業のクラウドファンディングのリターン企画である「ヤマトの森の自由時間」を体験してきました。
柳沢林業は、私の住む松本市で木々の精油を製造している林業事業者です。私自身、香りの活動を行う中で赤松精油を活用しており、以前から気になっていた場所でもありました。
当日はフィールド内を自由に散策し、森の空気を感じながら過ごしました。木々に触れ、倉庫に並ぶさまざまな木材を眺めていると、普段何気なく使っている木製品の背景には、長い時間をかけて育まれた森林資源があることを改めて実感します。
リターン商品としていただいた木の端材とお香のセットからも、木の魅力や香りを身近に感じることができました。木材を無駄なく活用しようとする取り組みにも共感します。
また、先日は柳沢林業の赤松精油を購入し、私自身の香りの活動にも活用しています。地域の森林資源から生まれた香りを実際に使うことで、森と暮らしのつながりをより身近に感じています。
フィールド内では、アイドルホースのヤマトにも会うことができました。高齢で体調も万全ではないと伺いましたが、静かに佇む姿がとても印象的でした。どうか穏やかな時間を過ごしながら、少しでも元気になってくれることを願っています。
松本市を拠点に活動するScent Designerとして、これからも赤松精油をはじめとする地域の森林資源や自然素材の魅力を発信し、香りとデザインを通じて、森と暮らしをつなぐ活動を続けていきたいと思います。
Recently, I had the opportunity to experience “Yamato’s Forest Free Time,” a crowdfunding return program offered by Yanagisawa Forestry in Matsumoto, Japan.
As someone who works with scent and natural materials, I have long been interested in Yanagisawa Forestry, one of the few local companies producing essential oils from forest resources, including Japanese red pine.
Walking through the forest, touching the trees, and exploring the lumber yard reminded me of the richness and value of our local woodlands. It was a meaningful opportunity to connect with the source of many natural materials that often become part of our daily lives.
As part of the crowdfunding return, I also received a set of wood offcuts and incense. These simple items beautifully reflected the character of the forest and offered a way to enjoy the scent and texture of wood at home.
Recently, I purchased their red pine essential oil and have started incorporating it into my own scent design work. Using materials sourced from local forests helps strengthen the connection between nature, place, and everyday life.
During my visit, I also met Yamato, the beloved horse who lives on the property. Although he is now elderly and not feeling his best, it was touching to see him peacefully spending time in the forest. I sincerely hope he regains his strength and continues to enjoy his days surrounded by nature.
Based in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan, I will continue exploring and sharing the value of Japanese red pine essential oil, local forest resources, and natural materials through scent design, creating meaningful connections between forests and everyday life.
